Week Notes 2025-04

📓 Notes

It's been a bit of an odd week. I've been having trouble getting off to sleep and as a result I've needed a nap in the evening but that seems to be making going to sleep when I need to even harder. Have banned napping this week to try and get my sleep pattern back on track.

Updated to Linux Mint 22.1 Which was nice 🙂

So adding trump to my filters has made things a little better.

I'm just glad I'm not an American.

With all the outcry after Supreme Leader was installed I just couldn't deal with the gnashing and wailing that was going on, not that I'm indifferent to the plight of people who will now be oppressed, but the feeling that as a country they collectivity decided yet again that he was a better choice than a woman is sickening.

I wasn't bored, not at all, I have a full and rich life...

My Mastodon instance moved their servers from France to the UK and it took longer that expected, I was slightly surprised how much I missed it 🙁

🎞️ Films

The plan this week was to start making my way through the Alien films but I only managed the first one. Will try again this week.

Was wanting something to watch on Netflix and thought I'd give The Half of It a go. They obviously used Cyrano de Bergerac as a starting point, but over all a bit of a laugh, worth the time.

Which then somehow lead my to In the Shadow of the Moon I saw the twists coming and still liked it. Time travel films be they loop or travel are totally my thing, but they do have to have a consistent internal logic, and this one works.

Watched From Season 3, it's still good, and they've added time travel for bonus points 🤩

Watched Smallville Season 4 now we're getting into the realms of the first DCEU, still enjoying it.

I binged my favourite Aaron Sorkin TV show The Newsroom. All three seasons of it in one go. I have no idea why I like it above all his other stuff I just do.

🎧 Music

This week for my metal pick I went with the classic Countdown to Extinction by Megadeth, when someone uses the phrase "All Killa no Filla" this is the album that comes to mind. For the not so metal pick Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette fond memories 🤗

As an added bonus this week, I found my copy of Mission: Impossible (Music From And Inspired By The Motion Picture) by... Well it's a compilation CD so lots. I used to put this one on repeat when I was coding back when I could lose hours at a time just writing for the fun of it.
