I want to blog more

If you count from my first "Daily Diary" you could say I've been blogging since 1996 off and on. First on Geocities then I bought my first domain sometime around '97/98. I was at one point going to make my own CMS called xBlog I even had the domain for a while. But in the end I got distracted by other things:- Game development, Getting Married, being a Manic Depressive, not necessarily in that order.

I have been trying to make more of an effort to keep publishing to this blog, but I seem to mostly be posting how-tos that I can look-up in the future when I inevitably forget how I did something in the past. I want to blog more but I keep coming back to "my life isn't going to be of interest to anyone else" and "I have no strong opinions about anything", I work from home and I'm a middle age cis white male, precisely the sort of demographic that should learn to shut the fuck up.

But I just like writing stuff, I've entertained the idea of writing stories, but also I've read some of the crap that's come out of my head and I probably shouldn't inflict that on other people. I think I need to find my voice, some might say I've got it here it is, but it doesn't flow like I wish it would.

I was reading a post by Robert Birming about the blogging challenge he's using for his July posts he's calling it July Reply

Replying to other people's blog posts by creating an entry titled “Re: The original blog title” – just like the subject line of an email.

In other words, your perspective on someone else’s thoughts. Sometimes, there might even be replies to replies. Like my Junited link today – it would have been Re: Re: Less blogging about blogging.

I thought I'd give it go see where it leads.

But that's for the coming month, right now I just wanted a stream of consciousness to remind myself how to do this.

If you're a blogger how did you find your voice? and how do you stay motivated?
