Raspberry Pi How to – Connect with SSH


Once you have finished your headless install you need a way to do stuff with your Raspberry Pi. Enter the SSH terminal.

  1. Download PuTTY from the site >>> http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html
  2. Run PuTTY.exe

  3. Enter the IP address of your Raspberry Pi into the address field and hit enter

  4. Enter your username and hit enter

  5. Enter your password and hit enter

  6. DONE - If this is a fresh install, do your first time boot config

  1. Putty say connection refused 🙁 What do I do now?

    • Normally that means that SSH isn’t enabled on the target system.
      Check you’re connecting to the right IP address.
      If you followed my “Headless Install Tutorial” then make sure you downloaded NOOBS 1.3.10 or newer because earlier versions of NOOBS didn’t have SSH enabled by default.
